Adam Sorokin
Driver Profile:
Drawn into a karmic vortex and spit out the other end, Adam Sorokin finds himself strapped into a dragster, staring down a Drag Strip about to swallow him whole in an insanely violent 5-second bite. The yellow-light flashes and he’s on a journey he longs to make. Adam is right where he wants to be; simultaneously springing forward into his career and back-peddling to fulfill the legacy a father left for him.

Adam is a proud second generation drag racer; the son of the legendary front-motored Top Fuel Dragster Champion driver, Mike Sorokin, the driver of the “Surfers” sling-shot rail which dominated the drag strips of Southern California in the early to mid 1960’s. In the Oct. and Nov. ‘98 issues of Hot Rod Magazine Cole Coonce presented “The Epic Saga of The Surfers”. Cole’s account of the unlikely hero-ship bestowed on The Surfers Top Fuel team ended with a clutch explosion and the tragic death of driver Mike Sorokin in 1967 at Orange County International Raceway. Coonce wrote of this accident, “It was perhaps drag racing’s darkest moment and at the very least, an ugly punctuation to the legacy of The Surfers.”
The legacy survives with “The Son of the Surfer”; Adam.

Now entering his 43rd year, Sorokin has established a career which in a very short time rivals his fathers. Adam is a driving machine with experience from shifter carts to road race cars, but finds true happiness driving down the 1320 in a nitro-methane powered dragster. He earned his NHRA competition license at Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School and worked his way through the sportsman ranks, driving Alcohol Funny Cars and Dragsters for a few years until finally landing behind the wheel of the Van Dyke Motorsports / Champion Speedshop NHRA Heritage Series Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragster.
Adam is a recent winner of the NHRA March Meet, the same race his father won in 1966 in the same lane. It was a classic win for the ages, covered by nearly every motorsports publication in print and online. Adams win was one he will savor forever, but he is far from ready to hang up his helmet. One of the most marketable, professional, articulate and intelligent drivers in auto racing, Sorokin is ready for the next evolution in his driving career, behind the wheel of a NHRA Modern-day Top Fuel Dragster.

Outside of racing, Adam is the owner of Superior QC Services LLC, a Quality Control agency of digital masters for feature films and TV shows. His is also a proud father to his son Mikey, who enjoys Hot rods (traditional and customs), Art, Architecture, Vintage furniture, History, and all types of auto racing.
